After
five months chasing down the unstoppable Florian Delifer throughout
Europe, the Benji Style was able to sit down the French force of nature.
School, work, and most notably parties have been the main concerns in
Florian's mind, but today our magazine is proud to present the finest
party planner of the Benji World.
BNJ
- Florian, Florian, why is it so hard to get you interviewed?
F
- I am a busy guy. I know this interview should be a priority, but this
is the problem: I am really bad at setting my priorities. So, I decided
that in 2008 one of my good resolutions is to have priorities in life,
and to respect them.
BNJ
- Tell us which are your priorities.
F
- I am working on them right now. I always want everything, so it
is not easy for me to make sacrifices. So today, I would say, I first
want to find the right job, the one I will enjoy the most. Then, I have
other wishes of course. I am extremely motivated to travel the world,
before starting to work. And I also want to understand what will be the
future of my love relationship. This last point will have an important
effect on all my priorities.
BNJ
- How do you picture the future of your love relationship?
F
- I would like my girlfriend to be able to live the unstable life I
want to live. She wants a stable life. I am not ready for this. I think
we can still overcome some distances for a longer while, especially if
it enables us to realize our projects at this stage of our lives.
BNJ
- You sound so serious. How could you grow mature in such a little
time?
F
- Mature? I do not think I am mature.
BNJ
- What do you think you are like?
F
- I think I am a child in some ways. It happens I think like a
child. I like doing things that mature people do not like doing.
Strange, funny, or crazy things. I like inventing or creating things.
Some grownups feel they have a hidden child in them. I am still looking
for my hidden grownup inside.
BNJ
- Wow. What is the last crazy thing you did?
F
- Let me think. Last Sunday, I went to the labyrinth of Alice in
Wonderland. I played with the water, and I scared people in the caves of
Adventureland in Disneyland. I also played with Coke and Mentos and I
made some crazy rockets with my little brothers. The videos are on
Youtube. I organized Flashmobs in Paris, leading people to make crazy
things in the streets.

BNJ
- Suggest us some cool Flashmob for Milan.
F
- I do not know if they are still organizing Flashmobs in Milan
today. You have to check online and register to receive the alerts.
BNJ
- Just make up something for us.
F
- I know. The last trend was about throwing pillow fights in the
streets. This is funny. 3.000 people fighting in the middle of the
street in San Francisco or Montreal.
BNJ
- We already had that two years ago.
F
- I know it happened. OK. I see you are aware of it. Good. This is
the French website: http://parismobs.free.fr
.
BNJ
- You were talking about the right job. What are you good at?
F
- I am good. Period. Eheh. Seriously, I like combining intuition
and logic in my work. I have a strong theoretical and analytical
background, given the extensive studies I have done so far. Therefore, I
think in a very structured way, I am rigorous, and I use methods in my
way of working. However, I also think creativity should be part of my
work, since this is what I like. I believe that if you like doing
something, you generally do it well. I'd like to explore further the
branding discipline, after my brief experience last summer. And
logically, I am looking at firms that include both intuition and logic
in their approach. Those firms that are able to combine a strong and
rigorous focus on strategy, and align creativity along.
BNJ
- Creativity. We know you release your creativity when it comes to
throw parties.
F
- Indeed. Dance is an art.
BNJ
- Tell us. How to throw the perfect party?
F
- You need three things. A never empty bar. Friendly people. Good
music.
BNJ
- Which is the best party you have ever thrown?
F
- The best and the worst at the same time. It was the last one I organized at my place in Barcelona. 90 people in 30 m2. It was crazy.
It
was really good because we were many, but maybe too many for the size of
my place. Moreover, everyone wanted to drink with me, so I ended up not
in the best shape ever.
BNJ
- Was it a theme party?
F
- There was no particular theme. It was just Raval Style.
BNJ
- Explain it to our readers, what's Raval?
F
- I would say first, it is a very centric district of Barcelona. It
was China Town, but it has become much more diversified in terms of
nationalities. It has also become a privileged place for art exhibitors,
so it is seen as a very emergent neighborhood too. You have the Museum
of Contemporary Art MACBA in the North of Raval, and you can find plenty
of exciting things around it: Bars, galleries, good restaurants. So, it
is young, animated, and you can also find plenty of alternative
people.
BNJ
- Do you still live there?
F
- No, I do not have any place to live right now. In Barcelona, I am
a nomad.
BNJ
- Where is your next party going to take place?
F
- No idea. Maybe in Paris! You will be invited for sure.
BNJ
- You have traveled quite a lot. What is the best place on Earth to
host a party?
F
- I do not really think it depends on the place. Rather, it is the
people you are with. Then, Barcelona and Madrid are nice places to
party, I think. I would say New York, of course, and you can have good
beach parties in Lebanon as well. Avoid Geneva or Paris, which are so
posh!
BNJ
- What is the best place to remain a child for life?
F
- I am looking for it, I would say in dreams.
BNJ
- And the best place to grow and become a man?
F
- I think traveling is a great enrichment, and enables you to grow
in a good way.
BNJ
- So you did grow up.
F
- I guess so, although I do not really think of myself as an adult.
BNJ
- So, final recommendations, how to remain childish forever?
F
- You should dream a lot, day and night, believe in your dreams
forever, whatever the adults tell you about what they call real life.
And remain happy as children are!
BNJ
- What is your dream?
F
- I have many dreams! True love is one of them! Extraordinary
adventures! Eating chocolate without limits! Flying!
BNJ
- Cool. In the end, sell us an idea for the ultimate party.
F
- Let's say something on an island, with beaches and sun, plenty of
people coming from many countries, excellent DJs with any kind of music,
open bars, buffets, animations everywhere. A 24 hour party would be
fine!
BNJ
- And cheap. Thank you, Florian.
F
- It was a great pleasure!
